Cranky Party of One...

I just have the urge to throat punch some people.  That is all. It's not shark week or anything that would justify this #crankyfest, I've got nothing for ya. *sigh* Is it just me or do any of you go through this too?

I could TOTALLY use a run right now! Especially if he's waiting...#therecanneverbeenoughryangoslingmemes #ever I'm missing running with Molly too, our schedules have been so crazy it's been about 2 weeks since we've run together. #firstworldproblems #lameasscomplaint

Yes please
Anyway...I'm looking forward to Girl's Night Out with some of my favorite ladies
to celebrate Sarah's birthday.

I'll post pics of us clean and preferably a little boozy. Actually, based on the text thread between us today, I'm thinking we might be a little more than boozy. :)

Hope y'all are  having an awesome day!

Krista

Hey Y'all!

It's been a while since I've lasted posted and I know you've missed me! (side eye) Anyway, I know I promised a post about my online dating experience and that will come this weekend. But first, what I've been up to...

I've been a major slacker with both my eating and working out. But I need to be held accountable, so you're getting the good, bad and ugly.

I'll start off with my workouts...I completed my second 5k on the 20th with my lovie, Molly. While I didn't run the full race (there was walking, think Walking Dead...that was me) but I didn't need to be carted across the finish line.  And that is a win in my book! (Leah, are you proud I didn't use a segway?)

My time per mile was 15:27, slow as F but whatever, it's something to base my next race off of.  The best part was my back didn't bother me at all, which really made me super happy.  I did have KT tape on my back, which helped.  (Thank you Molly for being brave enough to put it on my lower back before Monday's run. She might have have seen my plumber's crack. #truefriendship) Here are a few selfies (cause that's how we roll) from the event.

Pre Run Selfie #1 Wonder Woman Fleurty Bands!
Selfie # 2 The craziness begins...

Swamp Ass to the extreme! I think I'm surprised I finished the race!

Much needed glass of wine after the race!

I haven't done too much of anything since then. Tonight I'm planning on running after I get home from work. #singlegirlproblems  I'm also going to need to add weights in tonight.  That's part of my #fleurtysummerchallenge goals, which Imma about to tell you about. Go pee, grab a drink...I'll wait.

Ok, now onto the #fleurtysummerchallenge.  Jasmine Fleurty & Fit  started this challenge last week I didn't take any pictures of my goals, you're just getting the plain Jane version today.

 Goals:
1) NO processed crap
2) NO soda
3) Exercise 5 x week
4) Drink at least 2 top secret water jugs full of vodka  water daily...kidding!(Maybe I'm kidding)
5) Weight training at least twice a week
6) Blog at least 3 times a week. I know it's not fitness related but it helps keep me accountable.
7) Two alcoholic drinks per week.

8) Get below 200 lbs!

Ok, for the most part this week, I have done really well with not eating crap. And I've felt great! Last week I legit ate pizza 4 days in a row. While I'm not up weight wise, it's definitely not helping the #fatasscause so I've got to learn to say no. No my ass doesn't want that slice (or 2) of pizza.  I could hear my thighs screaming with each bite.

I've been doing fairly well with my water intake and that equals peeing more than a pregnant woman. But I'll take it, especially since there's no labor involved!  And I've not had ANY soda since then so I'm high fiving myself! ;)

I totally went over on the two alcoholic drinks per week, I seriously should have thought better of that goal. Seriously...two? I won't tell you how many I went over by but the glass of wine I had with Molly wasn't the second drink of the week.

Since I've committed to blogging at least 3 times a week and this is my first post of the week - get ready to hear a lot more from me.  (I KNOW that totally made your week, you're welcome!)

Alright, loves...time to get back to the craziness.

It's definitely the latter.

xoxo,
Krista

Dirty Girl Run Recap!

Dirty Girl Run...have you done this before? If so, you understand all the fun stuff I'm about to share. If you haven't, what are you waiting for? This is a SUPER fun 5k run with obstacles sprinkled throughout the course. You do NOT need to be in top physical shape to participate in this. (I'm the poster child for NOT being in shape) There were all fitness levels there and everyone was having fun - the best part of it! :) The race benefits Bright Pink, a non-profit organization that focuses on empowering women to be proactive about their breast and ovarian health. Oh yeah, there's mud, a shit ton of mud....did I mention that part?

Here is our awesome team , Dirty Mommas before the race.
Me, Leah, Courtney and Sarah pre run

We signed up for this run before my herniated disc, so for me, there wasn't any pre race training aka running. (Personally, I still can't believe I didn't use the Segway) I made the mistake of thinking that the total course was 3.1 miles with the obstacles. Mistake #1. Here is what I looked like after the first mile.

Seriously. Between not training and my asthma, that damn Segway would have come in handy. ;) We, I say we but really it was me who made the rest of the group chill for about 5 minutes while I tried to keep from taking a ride in the cart back. That wasn't an option for me - so I pretty much walked the rest of the course. The BEST thing you can do  is to do this race with girls who are going to support and encourage you the entire way.  This lucky bitch had 3 of them. I  puffy heart love them. Sarah slowed her pace down and stayed with me the entire way and Courtney and Leah circled back (to make sure I didn't find that damn Segway) and waited for us (me) at every obstacle.

The obstacles were fun and dirty, just how I like it!

Warning - you will have mud in places you didn't think humanly possible. Think hoo ha mud mask. You want to make sure that your shoes are tied like you are dating Christian Grey.  Otherwise, you could be running the rest of the run without a shoe. Next year we are bringing a waterproof camera and taking it with us, more fun shots of us getting down and dirty.

You don't have to complete every obstacle, there is always the option to walk around them. There were a few I opted not to do, but the rest of the girls did them, so I cheered them on.

Depending on your location there could be a few hills throughout the course. I say hills but what I really mean a mother f'n mountains in the course. Mistake #2. My quads were on fire walking up one that I swear should have had an elevation sign at the top.

After one final splash through the mud, we finished!

Leah and me

Sarah and me
They have all kinds of food, vendors and gear there to buy and the best part after getting dirty? Free beer! :) You do get to hose yourself (and in my case, other participants...whoops) off afterwards and change into something else.  You can also donate your sneakers to Dirty Girl. I'm sure they do something great with them...one less muddy thing for me to wash.

Oh and my Fleurty band stayed on the ENTIRE race and didn't move. At. All. Go get you some!!

Sarah and I semi cleaned up! :)

Leah, Sarah, me and Courtney enjoying some beer!

Although I didn't run the whole thing, it was SO much fun and I can't wait to do it again! Molly has agreed to the madness and is joining me on the next one, so that is awesome!! Speaking of which...I'm going to be late for my run date with her! :)

Have you done a Dirty Girl run or some other type of mud run?

Krista

I'm still alive...

I'm sure you're all glad to know that!  (#sideeye) It has been hectic in the land of Haines and I've been a slacker with blogging.

I started a part-time job at a salon two nights a week and all day Sunday in addition to my full-time job. Welcome to single-momhood! I absolutely love working there, time goes by super fast and I get some awesome discounts. Because let's face it, it takes A LOT to make me look normal! ;)

Working out has been sporadic at best.  Totally sucks sweaty balls.  I'm trying to go to the gym at lunch 3 days a week and work out at home the other 2 weekdays, but my full-time job has been CAH-RAZY! So, I made it there once during lunch in 2 weeks. UGH!

I've got my Dirty Girl Run with my girl Leah coming up on July 12th.  I just love the words Dirty Girl. It may or may not fit me. ;) I'm still considering the segway, but Leah said she won't let me. Chances are I'll be found in a mud pit somewhere on the course.

The kids are still alive too - at the moment.  You would think that an 8 1/2 year gap between the two would make them get along a little better...um no. Hell no. Miss Sassafras is an instigator, about 85% of the time. I've threatened to run away from home because the fighting makes me bat shit crazy. For real. Here's proof they're still breathing:

She loves taking selfies

Well, that's all the excitement that's been going on here. What's new and exciting with y'all?

xoxo,
Krista

Fitness Friday

I'm linking up with the beautiful Aubrey Leigh this week for Friday Fitness.  2 weeks ago I gave you what I had planned on doing each day during the week. You can read about it here. So how did I do? Truth? I exercised maybe 2 - 3 days per week.  (side eye) My schedule the last 2 weeks has been crazy!

I know, it totally is lame.  I did manage to walk for 30 minutes at lunch 2 days and Molly and I hit the gym this past Wednesday. We did 35 minutes of cardio on the elliptical and did legs. My inner thighs were screaming for the next 2 days, because clearly I haven't been working out consistently. (You can TOTALLY take that how you want, I am single!)  I also managed to get an arm workout in at home, which was great.

This week wasn't all that fabulous for working out aside from my gym night - my daddy is up from Florida for one of my niece's graduation. And another niece graduated this week too! (yay Mikayla!)

Me and Mikayla! <3

Anyway, I haven't been as consistent as I should be, but that stops today.  Molly and I are changing our Monday night routine from RPM to a gym night due to scheduling conflicts. We also plan to start running together at least once a week. We are going to sign up for a 5K in August.  YAY!!!! I also am going to be doing a Dirty Girl Run in July with my best friend's wife and a few other girl friends! While I'm super excited, it also means I can't continue to put myself last.  (Although the thought of a Segway during a 5k does sound like fun!) No more excuses. In the words of my girl Jasmine, I need to move my ass!

Although, I didn't exercise consistently, I did manage to lose a pound this week, I am amazed! And I'll take it and use that as fuel for the next week!

Alright there you have my lame ass Friday Fitness link up, but I promise to have a better link up next Friday.

Off to see my Daddy...So love having him in town!!! He is my everything!

Krista

Fitness Friday Link Up!

Kidding! Ok, if you know me, not really.  ;) I'm linking up with the gorgeous Aubrey at ALG, Uninterrupted for Fitness Fridays.  It's my first link up!

File:Snl-so-freakin-excited.gif

And if you read my post yesterday, you know this girl has 7 months until the alterations for my bridesmaid dress begin, and all the crying fun that comes with that!

Anyway, the last few months have been rather challenging with what I've been able to do regarding my workouts.  I have a herniated disc between L4 & L5 so I haven't been able to run. It blows. I enjoy running. Seriously, you read that right. It helps to clear my head, which is good, because at any given time the two remaining brain cells I have left are fighting and running helps keep them quiet.  :)

But this week my Orthopedic doctor released me and PT will too!

I have to start off rather slow, which means no half marathons in my near future...but here is my weekly fitness goal:

Monday: At night I take an RPM (spinning) class with my lovie, Molly. We love it, but my hoo-ha the day after is on fire.  (Padded seat covers are a freaking MUST) It is also Biceps/Triceps/Shoulder day.

Tuesday: 45 minutes of cardio or HIIT

Wednesday: Chest/Back

Thursday: Cardio/Tabata

Friday: Lower Body

Saturday: Full Body

Each day I'll include a list of exercises that I'm doing, so you can join in on the fun! (side eye) You can do most of the exercises at home if you have some weights. And I don't mean a full gym worth of weights, even if it's a 1 lb dumbbell.  I had a plan created for me and because I'm a single mom (aka Wonder Woman) I can't get to the gym at 5:00 am anymore with a 9 year old, so I wanted something that I could do at home or the gym.

There you have it! I'm need this Fitness Friday Link up as an accountability as well, so you can see my progress!  Enjoy your Friday loves!

xoxo,
Krista

It's On....Like Donkey Kong!

3ds Cartoons & Comics animated GIF

I went dress shopping on Sunday with one of my best friends. She is getting married in March of next year and the crazy girl asked me to be in her wedding!  I am beyond excited for her big day, as I love her and her fiance so much! They are my kind of crazy! Anywho, we not only found her dress (she looks absolutely stunning in it!) we also found the bridesmaid dresses.  I love the style and it's comfortable however I look like a Verunca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
willy wonka and the chocolate factory animated GIF

Don't believe me? Here's proof:

The color of the dress will be Kelly Green!

And I the dress was a size 18! Not cool! Now this is her day and I could stand next to her in a tent garbage bag for all I care, but I do NOT want to be a fat bridesmaid!! So I ordered a size smaller, knowing that with that size they can still take it in 2 additional dress sizes which would mean a size 12. I can't even remember the last time I was in a 12. That isn't my final goal by any means, but is definitely a ginormous step in the right direction! Cause let's be real, you see what I've got to work with!

This means that I need to seriously stop f'n around and get my shit together, because 7 months is a long time, but not long enough if I just sit on my ass. I definitely do NOT want to look like the model on right, that girl may be skinny, but she has no definition or tone in her arms. I want to look good with muscles, just not like the Incredible Hulk or Arnold in his Mr. Olympia days.  (But damn, wasn't he just sexy as f back then? YUM)

Starting tomorrow, I'm going to be weighing in on Fridays and hopefully linking up with some other bloggers I stalk love.  I'm putting myself out there and you are going to see the good, the bad and the ugly. I'll bore fill you in with my fitness goals, what I'm eating (hopefully not everything that isn't nailed down) and progress pics.

Get ready loves...we going for a ride!

Krista
